Photos from the 1970′s Kaijū-Kaijin Daizenshūmovie monster book series. This series detail the anatomy of the Japanese movie monsters (or kaiju) in the films produced byDaiei Motion Picture Companyin the 1960′s. Thanks to Kawaii Kakkoii Sugo for the original find.
Amazing duo out of the city of Angels, Over the Top has rescued the new Britney Spears track out of the crap-hole abyss created by pop music's best efforts to ruin the face of contemporary music. They give it a much needed overhaul, adding proper synths and a sensible dub bass line. Giving it a great Italian Disco feel almost makes the lyrics palatable.
UK's , Channel 4′s T4 (viweing audeince ages 16-34) has officially unveiled the new 2011 look. The new on-air refresh comprises near 20 new robot-inspired idents by Double G Studios, incredible London based motion graphics house. My kids love the spots, insist on watching them continuously and they all have their favorite robot already. I seem to have the inclination to enjoy work that dazzles children for some reason, be it in art, motion graphics, music etc. Evenso, maybe my kids are just sticklers for robots (needless to say they are all die-hard Daft Punk fans).
“Mousecast” is the first of a new series of podcasts/mixtapes that Mighty Mouse will be doing throughout the year. This amazing mix is to promote their appearance at the “Future Music Festival” in Australia.
Luke Butler's Enterprise series is as much intriguing and thought provoking as it is satisfying to the insatiable hunger in us thirty-somethings for nostalgia.
“A Skate Regeneration” by Brett Novak, is a jaw-dropping film featuring skateboarder Kilian Martin. I've definitely invested numerous years into skateboarding in my younger days and still follow it today. Despite the best efforts of the X-Games and other assorted televised events, forcing skateboarding onto a more viable mainstream platform, the average American remains aloof about the sport. Its still a bunch of punk kids thrashing up their city's sweetly polished stair rails to them. I can neither confirm or deny that assumption, Brett and Kilian present interwebers and You Tubers with a different perspective. From Brett's incredibly innovative and at times breathtaking cinematography, Patrick Watson's soundtrack to Kilian's skateboarding which can only be described as "poetry" we come to a new view: these videos escalates skateboarding from a mere sport to a true artistic expression.
Tasha Kusama's work seems to be telling us a story as narrated by a dream: fragmented, vivid in some sections, shrouded and vague in others. Her work with color and depth- the conflict between her grays, toned hues almost battling with her neons is gorgeous. incredible.
I have a bevy of mixed emotions about Far East Movement. Granted the lyrics by supposed "indie" rapper Catarac are laughable and the chic vocals are a complete Uffie knock off: lazy white girl poetry, uber-filtered and dripping with auto-tune. I'm also fully aware, G6 is on every Sorority Sister's iPOD snuggled in between some track from Kenny Chesney and 2-Pac's "California Love" in a playlist labeled "Party Starter."
I was also curious why they were so stoked about the Pontiac G6, until I realized its a type of private jet for the opulent. With all these dilemmas, that freakin' bass line lulls me in every time.
It is always encouraging to see electro and house creep in onto the main-stage of pop culture. (Unfortunately by then, mainstream chews it up and the indie hipsters run to the next haven of universal individuality). House is the new hip-hop, after all. So I celebrate F.E.M.'s success while simultaneously cringing when the Beiber fan exclaims "G6 is my jam!!!!!" So welcome to my dilemma.
Noriko Ambe tears it up (pun intended) with her series of delicately cut books, magaines, & paper stacks. I'm LOVIN the delicate feel of her work and the flowing, feminine cuts. Check her archive here!
This is the one-two punch of awesome. Edfield, a genius Charlotte based motion graphics and videography duo, concocts an innovative video for band Public Radio. The aforementioned band has spent the last few years creating a name for themselves across the south east and beyond. With front-man Mark Mathis' painstaking care as a wordsmith illuminated through the exuberance of PR's musicians. These guys are worth every penny of investment. Lets help them get this album up and running!!!
Support both of these amazing teams!! They are completely worth it!!

A seasoned illustrator, Ward Schumaker, has created an emmense library of paintings based on selected composers. He also created a series of geography as well. Check out the rest of them here!
Wowee Zowee, 2010 was a tailspin of musical euphoria if i must say so. An overabundance of memorable originals, game changing remixes and a bevy of completely addictive mixes were released this past year. I had to purchase an external hard drive specifically for this dilemma (for realsies). This post is dedicated to all of the head-bobbing, fist pumping, air Djing (quite similar to its cousin the "air guitar"), bouncing and uber cheese grinning that I have been engaging in whilst enjoying these assorted mixes; much to the bewilderment of my coworkers and assorted motorists. Download all of these NOW!!!
Moullinex proves he's as good of a Dj as he is a producer. Frequently a Dj will take the opportunity of a featured mix, to gratuitously drop all of the most recent bangers, ensuring high hits in search engine results and the tweener downloads. Brushing aside the cowardice of a mediocre set, Moullinex digs out a few classics and a hand full of unreleased tracks to ensure a gem of a mix. 'Villains Have Feelings Too' Mixtape by Moullinex
Breakbot's fearless excursions into the deep and ancient back-logs of obscure disco and long forgotten grooves, yields this Frenchman some of the most original sets I've heard. Fusing the old with the new, Breakbot concocts mixes the hipster, pseudo-electro dudes and frat boys alike may have a daunting time digesting. Mixes like this take you on extended searches for these disco nuggets! GET BREAKBOTS MIX HERE!!!!!
Granted, Aeroplane's October Mix, has a slower pace comparatively to most ADD Dj's "cram-twentyfive-tracks into 45 minutes" sets, its a rather refreshing change of pace. This, coupled to the fact the versatility of this set is otherworldly (yes that IS an unremixed Grateful Dead track starting it off). I could burn trenches into my burnt copy (i dont have snazzy iPOD connections in my auto) of this Aeroplane glory!! These guys release a mix monthly, so there's always freshness in the Aeroplane kitchen! Aeroplane October 2010 Mix by Aeroplane (Official)
I'm usually not into watercolors, but Christopher St. Leger brings a new level to the aqueous medium. With painstaking care to color and the vibrant loose quality of his technique, Christopher brings much needed life to the monotonous and somewhat sterile experience of suburban life. I'm loving his architecture and skateboard images!
Been out for a hot minute now, and I'm surprised to see Russ get this one out without my detection. Russ is one of the greats I have chosen to web stalk, and I must encourage you all to be as creepy as myself. Alas, Russ has hatched a scheme to throw me from the loop and release his follow up mix, to the ever-banging Expressway Series. I'm lovin it, moreso than the first! Expressway Mix Pt.2 by Russ Chimes
